Shri Vamaj Tirth

This tirth is very ancient. It is believed that the idol of Dada Adishvar belongs to the times of king Samprati. There was once an underground road from Vamaj to Sherisa and it was used in the times of King Samprati. Being an ancient place relic of old buildings can be seen here. The tirth is associated with many miracles and legends. According to a legend the idol of the lord was remained underground for many years. A devotee often dreamt about the location of the idol. As per the dream he went to the particular place and searched for the idol. He found it lying underneath the ground. The tirth finds its mention in `Aloyana Vinati` that was composed by the poet Lavanyagani in the year 1562 of the Vikram era. The idol was installed in the temple on the thirteenth day of the bright half of the month of Vaishakh in the year 2002 of the Vikram era. It was done at the revered hands of Vijayodaysurishvarji. The idol of Bhagwan Rishabh Dev is believed to possess miraculous powers. Thousands of Jains and non Jains from far off places visit the temple to offer their prayers. It is believed that if prayed with all devotion the Lord fulfils the wishes of the pilgrims.
