Shri Digambar Jain Tirtha Kshetra, Kundalpur

This place is believe to be the birth place of bhagwaan Mahavir. Since centuries people have been coming here for worship. Around 150 years back the area and temples were renovated. On the occasion of 2600 th birth anniversary of Mahavir a 'Kirti stambha' (pillar of dignity) was erected in the presence of Ganani Pramukh Shri Gyanmati Mataji. Many new development activities are taking place to develop the area under her guidance. In ancient times, Nalanda and Kundalpur were suburbs of Rajgiri. In drabhuti, Agnibhuti and Vayubhuti were among Ganadhars of Bhagawan Mahavir. They were three brothers born at this place. Nalanda was a great center Buddhist studies. There was a University, too. BhagawanMahavir happened to meet Goshalak here. In various ancient lists of tirths, there is a clear mention that there were many temples here. This was the birth location of three of the eleven of Gandhars of Bhagawan Mahavir. Several visits of Bhagawan Mahavir to this place and Bhagawan Mahavir’s preaching have made this place very important and distinct.
