photo

Shri Shantinath temple is 431 year anciant. 41'' Padmasan statue is here. The temple was constructed by a 'Shah' in 1575. He chose to not put his name, and just added his family name. Further Charukirti Bhattarak construted 4 temples wihch are know as Sarwana, Lava, Harsoli and Bahndra-Sindari. Fearing Mughal dominance and their attitude of destroying Temples, it was decided to move the Mulnayak Idol of Shantinath. The idol could not be moved. When force was applied, it split into two from the shoulder to Stomach (like a 'Janeu' is worn). Everyone was sadened by this. Further, a divine sound said that the idol should be covered with wheat flour and hot water and tied together. The idol rejoined firmly and a line of joint is still seen on Idol.
