More than 1000 years ago, Chamundaraya got this magnificient 58 feet idol, north facing, standing idol of Gomteshwara Bahubali, which lists in the top 10 biggest monolits created in the world. A huge number of pilgrims and tourists visit Shravanbelgola each day. Chandragiri: This hill holds the idol of bahubali along with many othe temples. Steps have been carved into the hill itself which itself is a huge single stone. Indragiri: There are 15+ temples on the hill which is just opposite to Chandragiri.A large number of these are found in the Chandragiri and the rest can be seen in the Indragiri and the town. Most of the inscriptions at the Chandragiri date back before the 10th century. These inscriptions include texts in the Kannada, Sanskrit, Tamil, Marathi, Konkani, Marwari and Mahajani languages. Mahamastakabhisheka: Mahamastaka Abhishek after every 12 years. Last happened in 2006, and the next one is planned in 2012.
